Abstract

This study, entitled "Social Reformation through Short Stories: A New Experience of Reading the Moroccan Writer Dr. Jamal Bou Tayeb," examines the role of the short story in social reform through the literary works of the Moroccan writer Dr. Jamal Boutayeb. It focuses on the writer's representation of social reality and his treatment of various social, ethical, political, cultural, and human issues through his short stories. Using a descriptive and analytical approach, the research examines the concept, development, characteristics, and artistic elements of the short story, as well as the literary experience of Dr. Jamal Boutayeb. Particular attention is given to his reform-oriented vision, narrative techniques, characterization, language, symbolism, and artistic structure, and to the ways in which these elements contribute to the representation and analysis of social reality. Selected short stories from his literary collections are further analysed, highlighting their engagement with issues affecting society and everyday human experience. The analysis demonstrates that Boutayeb employs the short story not merely as a means of literary pleasure, but also as an effective medium for social criticism, raising awareness, promoting positive values, and encouraging social reform. The study concludes that Boutayeb's short stories successfully combine artistic and aesthetic dimensions with a clear reformative vision, affirming the short story's capacity to represent social realities, stimulate critical awareness, and contribute to building a more ethical, humane society.
